Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the deposit, and is it refundable?

Guests are required to pay a $500 non-refundable deposit for single-occupancy or $1,000 non-refundable deposit for double-occupancy upon signing up for the trip. Our extension trip to Kyoto/Nara/Osaka requires an additional $500 deposit per person.

Does this package include race entries?

No, our Tokyo Marathon 2024 packages do not include bibs. Our goal in the future is to offer  race packages with guaranteed entries.

If I don’t want to travel to Kyoto, can I still join you for Tokyo?

Of course! Our base package explores Tokyo city. However, for guests who want to take in more sights and experiences of Japanese culture, the Kyoto/Nara/Osaka extension is a great fit.

Does this package include airfare?

No, our guests will need to purchase their own airline tickets.

Do I need to give you information about my flight?

Yes, please! Having your flight information and arrival time will allow our DM hosts to greet you upon arrival at the airport and guide you to your train.  In addition, the Tokyo Station Hotel offers a welcome experience based on your arrival time.

Will transportation be provided during the weekend?

Unless otherwise specified, guests will have to use public transportation to get around.  Luckily, our hotels in Tokyo and Kyoto are both located near train stations for ease and convenience. We will also provide detailed instructions for understanding how to use the various forms of public transportation throughout the cities. We recommend having your transportation card set up on your phone with a credit card attached before arriving in Japan for ease of use. This will help in buying your ticket from the airport to the hotel. The DM team can guide you through this process during our pre-race video call. Once at the hotel, we will provide a starter transit metro card for your initial travels.

Do I have to register my guests even if they’re not running?

Yes! DM guests have access to all the VIP perks as our runners. To ensure they receive all our great services, we ask that you let us know whom you are bringing at the time of registration. The hotel needs this information as well.

Are there any special tips about the public baths?

Public baths and spas in Japan may have separate areas by gender. The Tokyo Station Hotel requires guests must be 16 years and older and charges a small additional fee. The Celestine Gion Hotel public bath does not mention an age minimum and is complimentary. Individuals with tattoos will be asked to cover the area while using facilities. The hotel front desk or concierge can assist you with tattoo cover adhesives or additional questions.

Do spectators receive VIP treatment?

Yes! Spectators receive many of the same VIP perks that runners enjoy, including a spectator plan and sign-making station to help them cheer on their loved ones. We will provide guidance for spectators to know the best viewing spots to see their loved ones conquer the Tokyo Marathon!

Can I add a night onto the package?
